Raise your hand if you have some dumb ass relatives who thinks there is an epidemic of trans people trying to take over the world. They also fear drag queens and other performers who aren’t necessarily trans but just have a superhero identity that they perform under.

Back to trans math. So generally, it is assumed that about 1% of all people are trans. The population of the United States is assumed to be about 340 million people. Meaning that assuming the 1%, there should be about 3.4 million transpeople at any given time in the US. If you were to divide that by 50 states, that would put us at around 68,000 trans people by state, but that isn’t how population distribution works. California has around 39 million people so that would mean there would be more transpeople in California than in Wyoming with 577,000 people.
Vikki why are you doing this ridiculous math?
I’m doing it because with all the stupid legislation around trans folks, you would think that there were marauding bans of transpeople dressed like it was Mad Max attacking elementary schools and nursing homes. My point is that based on math alone, there isn’t enough of them to maraud or pillage or whatever the damn Republicans think they are doing.
In Montana with its population of around 1 million people, you are more likely to encounter a bear than you are a trans person. If you’re picturing bears dressed like drag queens running through the streets with swords and axes, I have done my job.
Look, I love my friends who are trans. I want them to be safe, happy, and healthy. Republican legislators and our current executive administration is threatening their ability do that with the denial of the existence of trans people. I just want them to be left the fuck alone to live their lives the way they want to live them. I don’t want them to be discriminated against.
AND I want the Republicans in the room to recognize how fucking foolish they look spending all this air and energy trying to hurt a tiny population of people who aren’t hurting anyone. It is cruel. It is deliberate. And we see it for what it is. Bigotry.
Leave them the fuck alone.
